  Care Placement came in a time when we needed help the most! We his 3 daughters cared for our Dad in his Riverside home since 2015. We had to move him to San … More Diego, CA 2019. He is 86 years old now, he lived with me his 3rd daughter and her family for over 3 years, but his Dementia Diagnoses was getting progressively worse by the day. I was referred to Ken Mortenson in February 2022 with only a few months to work within. Ken and his team worked with me endlessly until we found a beautiful, well organized and complete memory care facility for our Dad in June 2022. Ken was so knowledgeable, he was honest, patient and straight forward. He gave me understanding, resources, and support that was close to family. Dad is doing well, eating good food, walking, exercising, playing board games and listening to good music daily and taking life easy day by day. We visit with Dad weekly and he is happy to see his daughters when we arrive! Ken's Placement Team call asking about Dad's progress every 4 to 6 months. It's always a warm and welcomed phone call.   I discovered Care Placement from a friend who had found them about two years ago and was very impressed with the care option in a house environment that’s among the resources they search … More for throughout San Diego. I spoke with David, who was very responsive, warm, and informative. When I asked for clarification about his use of the term “hospice care” for a context outside of an end-of-life situation, he referred me to their hospice-related specialist, who confirmed that the term can be used for at-home care that isn’t necessarily end of life/palliative care but is performed by a hospice agency. It helped me to get clear on this option. I wasn’t able to give all the medical info David was asking (due to tricky family stuff) in order for David to run a search of possible facility or agency options but maybe I will be someday, or circumstances may change. I’m glad that, even though we aren’t at the point of picking a UC Care option at the moment, David has continued to be his gracious self by offering to later pick things up where we left off.

From the moment I first spoke to Michael, I was impressed by his professionalism, his knowledge, and above all, his compassion. He was thorough and respectful in his questions to me about our needs. His comments were very insightful. I could tell he’d walked down this road many times with other clients. I took my time – over six months – because I wanted to be prepared when the time came to place my husband. He was patient throughout the search process. Never rushed me to make a decision. After our initial conversation, his assistant sent me a comprehensive list of memory care facilities that met my criteria. The list included enough basic information for me to identity a subset of the group to call, and from there to arrange tours as I narrowed down my search. Michael assured me that there were other options, perhaps not as close by, and that we could broaden the search if I wasn’t satisfied after my site visits. During my search, he called or texted, making sure that any questions or concerns I might have were being addressed. His understanding of this difficult decision was invaluable. When I did choose a place, he and his assistant were in close contact to ensure the process went smoothly. Even after my husband moved in, they called to make sure I was doing well and followed up later to find out how my husband and I were adjusting. I am comfortable that I made the right decision – and Michael and his team were absolutely key to finding the right place – and my peace of mind!

He and his assistant still keep in contact so that they can be sure they are recommending agencies that maintain their standards. They educated me on the senior state and how it works.
